Is Parenting Right For You?

The idea of parenting can seem daunting and uncertain for any number of reasons, even for those who have planned their pregnancies. Like each of your options, parenting is a big decision. You might not think it is possible for you, but with the right tools and a strong support system, you can be a loving, nurturing parent to your child while fulfilling your personal goals and dreams.

You could be unsure about parenting because:

  • Your parent(s) or the father is unsupportive
  • You are worried about how your family and peers might react
  • Your main priority is school and/or work
  • You don’t consider yourself financially stable enough to support a child
  • You don’t feel mature enough to become a parent
  • You do not have a consistent place to live
  • You are unable to provide emotional support to a child

All of these concerns are valid. At Options for Women, we can provide you with the tools you need to be a successful parent or to simply discuss your concerns with you during your appointment.

Support Services

If you want to consider parenting, you are not alone. Options for Women partners with a number of community organizations to proactively address challenges and offer tangible solutions, allowing you to look past your initial fears and truly believe that parenting is an option for you. Our goal is to make sure you’re informed so that whatever you choose, you know you’ve made the best decision for you.

If you are interested in parenting, even if you have concerns, we are here to answer questions and provide information about the resources we offer.

Prenatal Care

If you’re considering parenting, starting prenatal care early on in the pregnancy is important for both you and your baby. In most cases, the state will pay for most, if not all, the medical costs of prenatal care. Options for Women offers a Prenatal Care Program and we are available to discuss its value and importance with you.
